Class: Pro Tools for the Home Voice Over Artist

Learn how to run and operate Pro Tools from your home voice over studio. The class is taught by a professional sound engineer at Star Trax. The purpose of this class is to help voice over artists learn Pro Tools and make professional recordings.
The skills learned will be aimed specifically towards voice over applications such as microphone placement, setting up and operating Pro Tools, exporting and emailing audio, FTP uploads and many more helpful tips. This class will aid voice over artists in getting the best out of their audio software and home studio set ups to efficiently deliver professional results.
Requirements: Must have a laptop computer (Mac or PC) with Pro Tools installed. Laptop, Pro Tools interface and headphones must be brought to each class.

**REQUIREMENTS: ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO RECORD FROM HOME. YOU MUST HAVE A COMPUTER, MICROPHONE, AUDIO EDITING SOFTWARE AND THE ABILITY TO RECORD AND SEND MP3’S

One of the hardest things for VO talent to do is to direct themselves on auditions in their home studios.
To address the needs of our students and the ever-changing climate of our industry we have developed this
unique class to help you Win Jobs, Be Your Own Director and Feel More Confident in Your Abilities to Record
Auditions from Home. We will address both technical and VO technique issues through a series of homework
assignments and assessments. Some topics will include; how to be objective about your reads, choosing the
best takes, slating/labeling MP3’s, reading banter copy without a partner, the pros and cons of headphones,
microphone placement, basic editing… THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER CLASS. You must currently be working in VO
or have completed one of our other courses.

Johnna Gottlieb, a former VO agent with some of the top VO agencies in the industry including Don Buchwald and Associates, now a leading VO industry consultant and talent manager whose client roster can be heard on Nickelodeon, CBS, TruTV, TBS, Speed Channel and FOX.
Roy Renza, co-owner of Star Trax and an audio engineer with more than 2 decades of VO experience producing for commercials, promos, documentary narrations and movie trailers.
Amy Marcs, VO artist with Don Buchwald and Associates and voice over and acting teacher who has provided her voice for numerous TV and radio commercials accounts some of which include Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Pantene, Stoeffer’s, K-Mart and IBM.
A top industry guest will join us for one class and will assess your home auditions and provide feedback. Previous guests include, Jeb Bernstein, VO AGENT and Head of VO department, Paradigm.
